Lots of signage and student support made for a big day! |
The purpose was to sell goodies and raise some money to help the Communications Program's Bulldog News Now (BNN) buy some needed equipment.
And what a picture perfect day we had too!
Bring on the customers! |
Faculty and some students brought cupcakes, brownies, drinks, and other treats.
Several communications students ran the sale. Pictured, from left, are Imara Hutson, Monique Daniel, Communications Club leader Ashley Hendricks, and Zion Riley
Allen Fleming (left) and Ty Cravens |
Allen Fleming, seen here on the left, was a big help to me in getting things set up that morning.
We had a nice chat too from Ty Cravens (right), a 2017 graduate and Bulldog football player, who was visiting campus.
Lots of cash- very sweet! |
The students were really good at inviting passersby to check out the goodies and buy a treat or two. Several students gave a dollar or two to help our cause, without wanting a cupcake or other sweet.
The BNN Bake Sale Benefit surpassed expectations! The final count was $160! I told people that raising $100 would be a home run and $50 a good effort too.
We are already talking about making this an annual event. I've already checked the calendar. Valentine's Day 2020 falls on a Friday.
Ashley's flyer with a mysterious skull in the corner! |
Ashley Hendricks designed a very good promotional flyer that we posted around campus. University Relations helped us too by sending a campus-wide email about the event.
Teonna's flyer |
I spoke about the bake sale initiative in my classes, especially Public Relations Writing. As a project I had the students design promotional flyers.
The project made for good discussions about public relations planning and execution.
Teonna Breland produced this colorful flyer.
Dyna'sha's dynamite flyer! |
This one was created by Dyna'sha Sanchez Stephens.
Xavier's creative construction |
Xavier Thompson also showed flair with his flyer.
The day before Comm Club students and I created lots of signs |
It may be hard to beat the success of this inaugural Valentine's Day benefit bake sale.
But we will certainly try to make next year's event even bigger and better!
Thank you to all the communications' faculty and students who contributed and helped this year. And thanks to all the SC State students who supported this event.
