New School Year!

Ready or not it's back to school! Here at South Carolina State University the fall semester began on Aug. 17. For me as a professor, there has been some classroom smartboard chaos that always seems to happen the first few days and weeks. But at least the air conditioning is working (knock on wood)!

Here's a brief new school-year video greeting recorded earlier this week. I first put this clip on my YouTube channel and imported it to Blogger.

This video of me is a bit too dark because of the sunlight coming through the window. There is a quick fix on Adobe Premiere Pro that will fix this problem. See the link here for that tutorial.

And here is the improved clip that is also trimmed. This clip I imported to Blogger without putting it first on YouTube.

Here is the second version imported directly from YouTube:

Note in the clip below that the video is cropped. I edited out the window on the left, brought in the right side a little, and decreased the headroom as well. All of this to give the video better composition. This video on YouTube shows how to do this cropping.

Here is a screenshot of how I used Premiere Pro to crop the clip.

The final phase of this project is to add a "super" with my name and title or position, and to add some music to the short clip. These students will also be doing this to their "Me in 30 Seconds Videos."

Use the T text tool in Premiere Pro to create a box in which to write. Then use the pointer tool to center and move the super to the lower third part of the screen.
